Ryan initially was no more than a love-interest for Taryn. While she is still madly infatuated with him, Ryan's developed a character all his own ... I admit to putting qualities in him that I would like in a significant other, but he's certainly no Galatea to my Pygmalion. (If this character is anything to me he's a friend or brother.) There's even some of "me" in him. The story's shifted such that it's really more his than Taryn's; I wonder if this is because he and I are at the same stage in our lives at this point. He's starting this voyage of self-discovery with this story, learning things about himself ... I like him.

	02.11.98 colorpencil	The first cast picture. Still not quite what I had in mind for Ryan's design; he's too ... buff. Here it is evident he likes Kylie.
	11.15.98 ink/colorpencil	The first appearance of the "6" t-shirt; this was after I became infatuated with Tony from Eve6. I figured Ryan was my orig chara do do with as I pleased....
	03.23-25.99 ink/colorpencil	Oddly, Ryan slightly resembles a guy I had a crush on the year I drew this ... Note he keeps the necklace from the previous pic.
	Aug 99 ink/prismacolor	My "animation" class in high school was really more a charaDes/comics class than anything else (fun!!); this is the sketch I turned in as one of five original character designs. And again with the "6" shirt.
	Aug 00 pencil	After watching Titan AE and most of season 4 of Buffy, I re-envisioned 2413 with a minor military streak. This is Ryan's result.
	08.07.00 pencil	... and then I decided Ryan would make a better "beach dude"; after all, he was totally laid-back and "cool". First appearance of tattoos and earrings.
	09.26.00 pencil	Going back to my less-cartoony portrait style; I don't like the way Ryan turned out here, he's a little too feminine and the hair looks fake. (Taryn's fine here, tho'.)
	Oct 00 pencil	Trying to cement the "punk" design; joined by Taryn and Kylie.
	Oct 00 pencil	I'd just bought what I thought was going to be my charaDes notebook, and so started the thing with Ryan; here's his "as is" pic, still in the "punk" phase.
	Oct 00 pencil	The charaDes book was gonna be filled with useless info/thoughts on each chara, here's some different hairstyles I considered for Ryan.
	Oct 00 prismacolor	Supposedly a "color study" on Ryan, probably more like an excuse to draw punk-boy sitting like that.
	Oct 00 pencil	After careful thought, I came to the conclusion that while the "punk" was nice, it just wasn't Ryan. So I went back to the chara's roots, compromising the styles, and found him.
	11.19.00 ink/prismacolor	Thought about transposing my characters into a fantasy setting, which made Ryan an Earth-based Linkish sorta chara. Yes, the braid is stolen from Duo Maxwell, but that was before I knew who the boy really was.
