Name: Gawl (no last name) Age: 16 Blood Type: B Hair color: Bluish-black Eye color: Green Family: None, unless you count Kohji and Ryo... Place of Origin: A laboratory in the future.^^ Occupation: Student, Ohju Academy Abilities: Generator/Fighter (aka, "Kicking ass".) Likes: Food, sleep, butterflies, Masami ^_~ Dislikes: (supposedly) Masami, fighting those pesky Generators Seiyuu: Hayashi Nobutoshi (but Gawl is one of the few shows I watch dubbed) Generator Gawl is one of those nice, average show-next-door kinda shows. It breaks no new ground, but is both amusing and entertaining. Maybe it's because of its reputation as "nothing special" that there aren't a lot of websites on it. But personally, I like it. It's funny (funnier in English, imho), there's action, there's a little suspense, and there's some solid -- if borrowed -- characterization. And besides all that, Gawl's a cutie.
So. Gawl, the title character, can transform -- or generate -- into this sort of bio-mecha-type EVA-lookin' thing called a Generator. Hence the title. And, y'know, while the Generator form isn't really all that appealing, as far as the bishounen status goes, he can definitely score some ass-kicking points, and that's always a plus. But see ... there's this one little problem called Masami... yes, just as Spike has Buffy and Kenshin has Kaoru and Tamahome has Miaka (well, maybe not quite in that way) ... Gawl's got it pretty bad for his landlady's daughter, Masami. Of course, neither of them would actually admit that growing attraction to each other. They're more likely to be seen arguing or insulting one another. ^_^
And yeah - Gawl's immature, sometimes to the point of being annoying. But he believes in his friends, right to the end. There's a loyalty to Ryo and Kohji that remains, despite the circumstances surrounding their mission. There's loyalty, even to Masami and Natsume. And while his unfettered belief in those around him may seem at times childish, I believe he knows exactly what he's doing. He won't allow his judgment to be clouded by messy politics; rather, he follows his heart to try and bring about the best possible solution for everyone involved.
